TOWARDS A SIMPLE THEATRE
Led By Daniel Goldman and Omar Elerian
Is all you need to make great theatre an actor, a story to tell and a space to tell it in? What is the relationship between these three elements? How can the performer be in total control of the stories they tell, the manner in which they tell them and the space they operate in? What happens when each of these factors is stretched or constrained? For example, what are the mechanics of 1 actor on stage or, say, 26 actors on stage? What happens when you tell many stories, or the same story many different ways? What happens when you perform in a lift or in a giant warehouse?

ENSEMBLE THEATRE - PLAYING TOGETHER
Led by Daniel Goldman
What are the stories to tell as a group? How can a group share the telling of a story? What are the skills required to work effectively as a group? How can each actor develop their perception of space so that the whole operates as cohesive unit? How can each actor be part of the whole and yet retain a personality and individuality? What forms are appropriate to ensemble theatre (with a particular focus on the Chorus)?

BEING FUNNY (AND HAVING FUN) ON STAGE
Led by Daniel Goldman and John Hinton - the team behind Crunch! and Origin of Species.
Being funny on stage is a skill with a clear set of techniques so what are the unique skills that each performer brings to the stage and how can these be mined for comic effect? What is the world of the Clown and do we all ahve a Clown? What is the world of the Buffoon and what is the purpose of the grotesque? What is funny on stage and why are the mechanics of funny stuff (with particular focus on such technical terms as prat-falls, surprising the audience, play OTT, opposites, rhythm and counter-rhythm and so on)?

MAKING NOISE, FILLING VOIDS
Led by Daniel Goldman and Alex Silverman.
Before the writer sat down and wrote a text, there was silence. Before the actor opens his mouth to say the text, there is silence. Before the musician plays a note, there is silence. Before all creation, there is a void to be filled. We look at the premise that all aspects theatre can start from nothing. A workshop for actors, devisers, musicians and writers to discover whait is necessary and what is superfluous, what is sacred and what is banal, what is worthy of being put in front of an audience.
