Seven Degrees of Tropical Entropy

Seven Degrees of Tropical Entropy
9. September 2008 - 27. September 2008

A new biopic of Dr Humberto Fernandez Moran, a Venezuelan scientist who became a leading figure in the world of biochemistry and who famously turned down the Nobel Prize because it meant renouncing his Venezuelan nationality.

He is famous for founding the Venezuelan Institute for Neurological and Brain Studies as well as for his work at the NASA for the Apollo Project. A reluctant political figure, he was appointed minister of Science during the last year of the regime of Marcos Perez Jimenez and was forced to leave Venezuela when the dictatorship was overthrown in 1958. The play is a highly subjective portrait of a man who’s life was prised apart by the conflict between science against ignorance, between the individual and the state.

REVIEWS

“ Its fantastically conceptualised opening, seemingly an experiment in invisible theatre, has the audience participating in the play without even realising that they are doing so." - Kate Jackson - What's on Stage - 3 STARS

“This is ensemble theatre at its best. Director Mike Tweddle has managed to create a performance which grabs the audience's attention from start to finish. The six ensemble members are equally talented, switch roles and parts easily, and together perform a seamless story which flows beautifully from start to finish.” - Leon Conrad - RemoteGoat - 5 STARS

“Seven Degrees of Tropical Entropy's enthusiastic cast bring energy, verve and passion into a quite remarkable subject, without which it could have erred towards being more than a little dry.” - Geoff Ambler - ReviewsGate
