Dr Korczak's Example
Dr Korczak's Example
30. June 2009 - 18. July 2009
by David Grieg
Arcola Theatre, London
As the summer of 1942 advances, the days of the Warsaw Ghetto are numbered. Dr Janusz Korczak, the remarkable founder of its Jewish orphanage, finds his pacifist principles pushed to the limit, not only by the advancing Nazi regime, but by the arrival of Adzio, a boy who believes in fighting back.
“I’ve trained them well. For a perfect world. How will they survive this one?”
Nuestra Senora De Las Nubes
Two exiles on the run lose themselves in the wonderfully dark history of Our Lady in the Clouds, a country conceived by incest, brought up on lust, disciplined with terror and destroyed, in true Latin American style, by the enemy within.
Seven Degrees of Tropical Entropy
A new biopic of Dr Humberto Fernandez Moran, a Venezuelan scientist who became a leading figure in the world of biochemistry and who famously turned down the Nobel Prize because it meant renouncing his Venezuelan nationality.
Barceloneta, at Night
Nazis, the Virgin Mary, the Puerto Rican Gay scene and Rollerblades combine explosively in this brilliant comic farce from Puerto Rico's most exciting young playwright.

After Everything: Pain and Suffering
A man sells his soul to the devil who promises him the ability to feel something, anything. A Peruvian woman kills her daughter and bathes in her blood in order to regain her youth.
Sepia Dreams
Sepia Dreams is a visceral and surreal dissection of a relationship where the ability to communicate slowly disintergrates.
Black Light
Two heads that have recently been cut off in a public execution in an unnamed Latin American state open their eyes and realise the end still hasn't come... which is a pain for both of them.
Richard III
Fast-paced, raw and bloody, lasting only 90 minutes, aimed at making Shakespeare thrilling to young people and adults alike.
